Description
Featuring the private collection of legendary early California collector Alice Avery. The Los Angeles collector began her quest for fine dolls and dollhouses in the 1950s, with a quixotic and delightful mélange of mignonettes, Lenci dolls, and American and European dollhouses. Not to mention the superb French dolls and German characters as well as early Kathe Kruse and elegant miniature maitrise doll furnishing that found a home within her home, too. More than 50 Lenci dolls from the 1920s/early 1930s Golden Age of the renowned Italian firm are highlighted in the catalog, while rare examples of all-bisque mignonettes include the desirable jointed-elbow French tinies in original costumes. Two Bebe Tristes by Jumeau are at opposite and rare size spectrum – a grand size 16 and a dainty size 10, and a bevy of the ever-sought size 1 and 2 petite French bebes cavort merrily. German characters include the beloved Wendy along with her rarely-found friends from the elusive art-character reform series of the 1910 era.8.5" x 11". Softbound. 138 full-color pages. BT-297
